Dave DeVaughn, Our Type Expert is Back!

Wondering about Type Tests?????????????????????

Our Type Expert Dave DeVaughn is back.  Here’s his answer regardingg INTJ v. INTP and speech challenges.

Hi X,

There is quite a bit difference between Socionics and Myers Briggs, especially as it applies to Introverted Intuitives like yourself. Socionics INTJ’s would be (likely) INTP with Myers Briggs and vice versa. To be honest, I can’t really say that one is more accurate than the other. The point here is that you are likely INT – either J or P.

I take it from your letter that you are wondering whether your speech difficulties are the cause of your introverted nature. My guess is probably not. Any sort of physical or emotional impediment can make a person become more private, but this is not necessarily the same thing as being naturally introverted. Shyness about our infirmities (all of us have some) might make us little more private and less likely to socialize. However, this is not really the same thing as a natural tendency to remain within ourselves.

Introverted Intuitives like us naturally spend a lot of time inside their own heads analyzing life and processing information. Introverted Intuitives would have less desire (and probalby less skill) expressing themselves as someone that is Extroverted. This is natural and nothing to be ashamed of. It is who we are.

Introversion is also about how we re-energize our batteries, not just how we act. It is possible to be introverted yet outgoing. In my own case, I am very outgoing but very introverted at the same time. I need lots of time alone to recharge my batteries and to be honest, I am more comfortable alone or with my Labrador Retriever, Buddy.

I hope this helps.

David
